Non-Toxic Cleaning

As compared to the average American cleaning cupboard, mine is rather unique. I stopped purchasing conventional cleaning products years ago, due to all the hazardous chemicals they contain and have been using homemade essential oil cleaning recipes ever since. Best thing I have ever done for my home and family.

Not only does adding essential oils to DIY cleaning mixes totally boost cleaning power, but it will make your home smell amazing— no artificial fragrances required. And who doesn’t want an amazing smelling house?

I get asked all the time which DIY cleaners are my favorite, so I finally decided to put them all in one place for y’all. Let me know if you have any you think I should add to my list.

All-Purpose Cleaner with Lemon

  •  2 cups white vinegar
  •  2 cups water
  •  1 teaspoon natural dish soap (NOT castile soap)
  •  30 drops lemon essential oil
  •  20 drops tea tree essential oil

Mix all ingredients in a...

DIY Dryer Sheets

I’ve been wanting to make my own natural reusable dryer sheets for a long time, simply because I like making my own products. But it wasn’t until last week that I finally tried them out after reading a few articles about how horrible store-bought dryer sheets are.  I mean, it’s no surprise really. Anything that smells that dang good can’t be natural, right? These DIY dryer sheets are simple, natural, and safe for sensitive skin. Try these and I’m sure you will be ditching the store-bought dryer sheets for good!

My DIY dryer sheets smell sooo good. It gives my clothes a faint, fresh clean scent.  Since these are reusable, you can use old wash cloths, cut up t-shirts or simple quilting squares.

Here is what you will need:

  •  1 large jar (I reused a pickle jar, but anything with a sealed lid will work, as long as it has a wide mouth)
  •  2.5 cups of water
  •  2.5 cups of white vinegar
  •  3-4 tbsps vegetable...

Powdered Cleanser Recipe

Hey Y’all!!!  This past weekend I was prepping for some cleaning and decided I wanted to try out a new type of cleaner….a Powder Cleanser.  Deep cleaning doesn't have to mean hours of scrubbing on your hands and knees.

This powdered cleanser makes it easy to clean even the grimiest of surfaces with little to no work. Just sprinkle on the surface, walk away for 15–30 minutes, and then wipe clean.

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups borax
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • ½ cup kosher salt
  • 20 drops Lemon essential oil

Remember, although borax is natural, it can be toxic when ingested and should be kept away from children and pets. If you are concerned about using borax, you can omit it.

Instructions

  1.  Combine all ingredients into a large bowl and stir until combined.
  2.  Store in a large shaker bottle.
  3.  To use, dampen surface and sprinkle powder over area you want to clean.Let sit for 15–30 minutes. For an extra...

Spotlight: Frankincense Essential Oil

It’s that time!!!…Essential Oil Shout Out!!!!!

I want to give a huge shout out to the KING of all oils…..Frankincense!

Renowned as one of the most prized and precious essential oils, Frankincense oil has extraordinary health benefits.* In addition to its notoriety in the New Testament, the Babylonians and Assyrians would burn Frankincense in religious ceremonies and the ancient Egyptians used Frankincense resin for everything from perfume to salves for soothing skin. This centuries-old knowledge contributes to the modern uses of Frankincense oil today. Its soothing and beautifying properties are used to rejuvenate skin and help reduce the appearance of imperfections when applied topically. As the king of oils, Frankincense is known to support healthy cellular, immune, nervous, and digestive function when used internally.

Combine Frankincense essential oil with essential oils like Bergamot or Lavender and inhale or diffuse to create an...

Essentail Oils & Cleaning

Hey ya’ll!! This week I have thinking about deep cleaning in my kitchen.  I don’t know about y’all, but this is something I dread doing, but love to have done, once I am finished.

This time, I’m really focused on using eco friendly products and essential oils in my cleaning.  Grease and grime gets everywhere in the kitchen.  That’s probably why the kitchen is one of the hardest rooms in the whole house to clean.  Using essential oils really helps cut through all this, sanitizes, and makes your whole kitchen smell amazing!!

Here are some of the oils I like to use in my cleaning…

Oregano Oil-damp & dark places

On Guard Oil-counters, kitchen, & all purpose

Tea Tree Oil-toilets, sinks, showers, washing machine odor, makeup brushes, & exercise mats

Lemon Oil-toilets, skinks, showers, floors, stainless steel, & wood

Lavender Oil-deodorizing, laundry, & carpets

Peppermint Oil-windows, mirrors, & pest...

Keeping Your Mask Clean

Hey ya’ll!!  I recently did a social media post on “How to Keep Your Face Mask Clean” and I thought “what a great blog post”!!

We’re all wearing them so we might as well talk about them and maybe with a little essential oil magic, we can make it a little more bearable.  Retailers around the world have taken the first step by designing cute and fashionable masks.  Now lets up our mask game by adding essential oils to help boost immune support and smell great!

Keeping your mask clean will not only sanitize your mask, but also help you breath better, promote calm feelings, and smell amazing!

I know having to wear a mask can make me feel anxious and sometime down right claustrophobic.  So I added some calming oils to my mask spray.  This helps me feel relaxed and centered.

Don’t like smelling your own breath all the time?  I know I don’t.  Essential oils in your mask spray will leave...

Essential Oil Organization

So… I figured what better way to follow up our Essential Oil Resolutions…than with some super easy Essential Oil Organization Tips!!

Now that your supply of essential oils is growing, you need some practical ways to organize them.  If your oils are organized and accessible you will be so much more likely of using them daily.

I love to put labels on my lids!  I am a huge a fan of paper products, so I love a good sticker!  Other than giving your oil bottles some extra flair, lid stickers help you avoid picking up the wrong oil.  You can get lid stickers directly from doTERRA, Amazon, Etsy, or from various bottle suppliers.  Look around and find the ones that you like best.

You will want to store your oils out in the open, where you’re most likely to use them.  I have mine organized in an antique spice rack in my kitchen, on a shelf in my bedroom, and I store my extra oils in an oil box.  There are tons of ideas out there,...
