DIY Bronzer

Is it just me or are you ready for a nice sun kissed glow? I am tired of my wintertime shade of skin. If you are looking for a way to get the springtime glow during the winter blues check this out!

These bronzing lotion sticks are the answer. These homemade lotion sticks provide extreme moisture for dry winter skin and add a beautiful sun-kissed glow without the harmful rays of the sun. Similar to our moisturizing lotion bars, these lotion sticks melt with the heat of your skin and are mess-free when stored in this convenient container.

Ingredients:

  • cup beeswax
  • ¼ cup shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa butter
  • 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E
  • 20 drops of your favorite essential oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, for bronzer (you could also use 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder)

Note: This recipe makes approximately four ounces of lotion. I would suggest doubling the recipe because all your girlfriends are going to ask where you...

DIY Lotion Bars

Is it just me or ya’ll as just as tired of this winter weather as I am? Well hopefully we are getting close to putting this cold, dry weather behind us and we can use these all natural homemade lotion bars to nourish our wintertime skin!

Lotion Bars are a wonderful, natural alternative to traditional lotions and they are easy to make at home. Lotion bars are far more concentrated than a typical liquid lotion because they do not contain any water, and the handheld bars look like a bar of soap. But because they contain no water, lotion bars do not require any preservatives and are shelf stable for at least 6 months!

Below is my simple, easy recipe!! Feel free to change it up with different oils to achieve the scent of your liking.

Ingredients:

• 1/4 cup Beeswax

• 1 Tbs. Shea Butter

• 2 Tbs. Cocoa Butter

• 2 Tbs. Almond Oil

• 1 Tbs. Jojoba Oil

• 50 drops (apx. 1/2 tsp) essential oil of choice (optional) ...

Powdered Cleanser Recipe

Hey Y’all!!!  This past weekend I was prepping for some cleaning and decided I wanted to try out a new type of cleaner….a Powder Cleanser.  Deep cleaning doesn't have to mean hours of scrubbing on your hands and knees.

This powdered cleanser makes it easy to clean even the grimiest of surfaces with little to no work. Just sprinkle on the surface, walk away for 15–30 minutes, and then wipe clean.

 Ingredients

  • 2 cups borax
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • ½ cup citric acid
  • ½ cup kosher salt

Remember, although borax is natural, it can be toxic when ingested and should be kept away from children and pets. If you are concerned about using borax, you can omit it.

Instructions

  1.  Combine all ingredients into a large bowl and stir until combined.
  2.  Store in a large shaker bottle.

Essential Oils & Hand Care

This week I want to talk about essential oils and hand care, and I can’t believe it took me soooo long to do this...  I’m gonna give ya’ll some amazing recipes that will really up your hand care routine…and a small education on fractionated coconut oil.

When you buy coconut oil at the grocery store, it is semi-solid at room temperature and, while perfect for cooking, can be hard to use on skin unless melted or whipped first. Enter Fractionated Coconut Oil, a form which stays liquid at room temperature. To achieve this, coconut oil goes through a chemical-free process to take out the long-chain fatty acids (triglycerides) that give coconut oil its solidity. Taking out these fatty acids also extends the oil’s shelf life indefinitely.

Fractionated Coconut Oil can be used on its own as a moisturizer, but it is also useful in this DIY coconut oil lotion for both your body and face.

Ingredients:

½ cup distilled water

½ cup...
