Cake & Pies

As you know I LOVE this time of year.  Spending time with family and friends, catching up and sharing laughs, feels me with such joy!

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner I wanted to share a couple amazing recipes with ya’ll……and this weeks focus….CAKE & PIES!!!!  I love pie. I love cake. To be honest I love anything sweet.  These recipes are sure to be a big hit at Thanksgiving this year. 

APPLE PIE
Ingredients-Filling:
5 cups apple, sliced
¼ cup sugar
1 pinch nutmeg
½ teaspoon cinnamon
6 drops Lemon Oil
¼ cup flour

Ingredients-Crust:
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
1 egg
1 teaspoon vinegar
6–7 tablespoons of cold water

Instructions:

  1.  Mix all pie filling ingredients together. Cook on medium heat until it comes to a boil. Stir constantly so that sugars don't burn. Set aside.

Deep Kitchen Cleaning & Essential Oils

Y’all this week I want to focus on cleaning….the kitchen!!!  This is one of the hardest rooms in my house to keep clean.  Plus there are tons of misleading, toxic chemical cleaners marketed to help you.  I want to help you clean the natural, safe way!

Cleaning the fridge and microwave can be two of the most difficult chores around the house. Caked-on food, mystery stains, and questionable smells can make this a dreaded cleaning job that gets put off until the last minute. If you need a little help, try this DIY Refrigerator and Microwave Cleaner featuring Lemon essential oil for an easy cleaning job and refreshing aroma. 

 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 15 drops Lemon essential oil

  1. Combine the ingredients in glass spray bottle.

Summertime Smoothie's

It’s SUMMER TIME!!! And nothing says Summer like a refreshing smoothie!!!  I love them! My kiddos love them!  They are so easy to make and super healthy!  

These smoothies recipes will give you the boost of energy and hydration needed on hot summer days.  

Wild Tropical Smoothie
Ingredients:

  • 5 drops Wild Orange oil
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1½ cup pineapple juice

Green Machine Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop Slim & Sassy® Vanilla TrimShake
  • 1 cup unsweetened original almond milk
  • 1 drop Wild Orange oil
  • 1 cup frozen fruit
  • cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2–3 cups raw spinach

Island Daydream Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 12–14 ounces coconut milk
  • 2 scoops doTERRA Fiber
  • ½ cup mango
  • ½ cup papaya
  • ½ cup pineapple
  • 1 handful ice cubes

Product Spotlight: Lemon

I want to give a huge shout out to one of my FAVORITE essential oils….lemon!  I love lemon! I love the smell! I love the taste and I LOVE what lemon does for the body.

Lemon oil is one of the most versatile of all the essential oils.  It cleanses and purifies the surfaces and the air.  Add a couple drops to a diffuser to help promote a positive mood.    

Add a drop or two of lemon oil to your water for a refreshing treat.  Using this oil internally, naturally cleanses the body and aids in digestion.    

Below are a list of ways that I like to use lemon essential oil around my home.  I promise, if you try one of these all natural tips, in your home, you will be hooked.   

  • One to three drops removes sticky grease stains.
  • Freshen your laundry by adding one drop to the final rinse cycle.

Oh my goodness!!  Did anyone take a step outside this morning and freeze?  It’s cold!!  

The temperature change shocked me and reminded me that Old Man Winter is on the way.  I try to always be a “glass half full” type of person so I’ll tell you first what I LOVE about Winter…fires, warm drinks, comfy blankets, Christmas, and the occasional snow.  Now I’ll be honest……Winter can also be a hard season. Just for Beginners

I don't know about y'all, but when I started making the switch to safer, healthier products for me and those I loved most, I couldn't help but be completely overwhelmed with all the choices.

Where in the world was I supposed to start?

This is probably one of the questions I get asked the most. Where to begin? 

Now, I love all my oils and y'all know that. And I already came up with my Top Three Favorite Oils, but I wanted to share my top three oils for beginners. 

I always suggest that new people start with these oils. They have some great benefits. They smell amazing. And they are easy to understand. 

First up is Lavender. This oil is great for stress relief and calming effects. I love diffusing Lavender at the end of a long day or right before bedtime. It just soothes and calms the world around you. And it smells soooooo good.
