Thanksgiving & Essential Oils

As you know I LOVE this time of year.  Spending time with family and friends, catching up and sharing laughs, feels me with such joy!

Since Thanksgiving is next week……I can hardly contain my excitement……I’m about to share with ya’ll some amazing recipes that use essential oils in everyone’s familiar Thanksgiving favorites.  

Citrus & Herb Butter

Ingredients:

  • 4 drops Wild Orange essential oil
  • 3 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients and stir together thoroughly. Set aside.
  2. Use fingers to carefully loosen skin around the entire bird. Take ¼ of the butter mixture and rub it, thoroughly, under skin making sure to coat as much of the turkey as possible. Brush remaining butter mixture over skin, making sure to cover the entire turkey.

Rosemary Mashed Potatoes 

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium Yukon gold potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 small red onion, chopped 
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced 
  • 2 drops Rosemary essential oil 
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt, to taste 
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Place potatoes in pot with enough salted water to cover. Cook 30 minutes or until tender and drain.
  2. Add butter too potatoes and set aside.
  3. Add oil, garlic, and onions to skillet and cook until tender.
  4. Mash potatoes with onion mixture, milk, Rosemary oil, and salt and pepper to taste.

Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (500ml) of pumpkin puree
  • 1 can (400ml) full-fat coconut milk
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax
  • ½ cup (115g) brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 drop Cinnamon essential oil
  • 2 drops Clove essential oil
  • 2 drops Ginger essential oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 par/pre baked pie crust. Pre bake at 400ºF/350ºF fan  for 8 minutes.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Pour into a par baked pie crust in a 10-inch round pan.
  3. Bake for 27 minutes. Note: It will look underdone at this time, don’t worry. Refrigerate at least 2 hours uncovered. Pie will thicken and set.
  4. Top with fresh whipped cream.

Now I’m starving and can’t wait to eat!  

No gathering is complete without a festive diffuser blend running in my house! You can also add these oils to your table centerpiece to make your table warm and inviting. 

Warm House Diffuser Blend

  • 2 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 2 drops Orange essential oil
  • 2 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • 2 drops Rosemary essential oil

Happy Harvest Diffuser Blend

  • 2 drops Cedarwood essential oil
  • 2 drops Frankincense essential oil
  • 3 drops Sweet Orange essential oil
