Essential Oils & Skin Care

Hey ya’ll!! I don’t know if y’all have noticed but we’ve kinda got a series going on here…essential oils and personal pampering!!  We started at hair care.  Moved on to lips and now we're going to focus this week on essential oils and skin care, specifically facial skin care.  

Below you will find some amazing recipes to pamper yourself with masks and scrubs.  These recipes will leave your face soft and regenerated!!  

Help cleanse and nourish your skin with this easy Clay Mask. It is great for all skin types and can be customized with your favorite essential oils. This recipe makes enough for one facial mask and should be applied to your skin at least once a week for best results. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons bentonite clay
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 drop Frankincense oil
  • 1 drop Lavender oil
  • 1 drop Tea Tree oil

Instructions:

  1. Combine clay and vinegar in bowl and stir until well combined.
  2. Add essential oils.
  3. Apply to clean skin, avoiding the areas around eyes and mouth.
  4. Let dry for 5–15 minutes.
  5. Rinse with warm water and follow with moisturizer. 

While Grapefruit oil is known for helping improve the appearance of blemishes, Lavender oil is useful for soothing the skin. This DIY Grapefruit Scrub will leave your skin soft and glowing.     

Ingredients: 

  • ½ cup sugar (the finer the grit, the better) 
  • 5–7 drops Grapefruit oil
  • 5 drops Lavender oil
  • 3 tablespoons avocado oil   

Instructions: 

  1. Mix all the ingredients into a bowl.  
  2. To clean skin, apply a half dollar–size amount of scrub to your face. Use light pressure to spread the scrub in circular motions. Be careful to avoid the delicate area around the eyes.   
  3. When the scrub has been applied to your face and lips, rinse with warm water and dry gently with a clean towel.  

Enjoy a little self-care with this Oil-Balancing Face Mask! Soothing Lavender oil reduces the appearance of skin imperfections, and Bergamot oil provides skin-purifying benefits. In a few simple steps, you’ll have what you need to show your skin some love. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon organic liquid honey
  • 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
  • 2 drops Bergamot oil
  • 2 drops Lavender oil
  • 1 tablespoon facial clay
  • Filtered water (as needed)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the honey and sweet almond oil. Stir with a metal spoon until smooth.
  2. Add the essential oils, and then continue stirring.
  3. Slowly add the facial clay in small amounts while stirring to maintain a smooth consistency.
  4. If needed, add filtered water a teaspoon at a time to reach a smooth yet firm consistency that can be spread on the skin without being too thin or too runny.
  5. Using a spoon or fingers, apply the mask on the face a teaspoon at a time, starting at the center and working out toward the hairline.
  6. Allow the mask to stay on until dry—normally about 20 minutes.
  7. To remove, soften the mask by lightly pressing a damp, warm cloth against the face. Then use the cloth to remove the mask, rinsing as necessary.
  8. Splash the face with water and dry with a clean cloth to remove any leftover clay.
