School is out and the kids are getting bored! Want some all natural activities for your kiddos??
Try these essential oil all natural kid projects to keep your kids entertained and occupied this summer!
PLAYDOUGH
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup salt
- 4 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil, coconut oil works too if you that on hand
- Food coloring (optional but it isn’t playdough without all the colors of the rainbow and I always prefer the natural food coloring)
- DoTerra oils of your choice
- Quart sized bags
- Gallon sized bags
Instructions:
- Sir the flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a large pot.
- Next add the vegetable oil. If you are only making one color add in the color now as well.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly
- Continue stirring until the dough has thickened and begins to form into a ball
- Remove from heat and then place inside a gallon size bag or onto wax paper
- Allow to cool slightly and then knead until smooth.
- If you are adding colors, divide the dough into balls for how many colors you want and then add to the dough into the quart sized bags.
- Start with about 5 drops of color and add more to brighten. Knead to spread evenly.
- Do the same with your oils. Start with 5-10 drops and add more if needed. Once it’s all mixed together you are ready to PLAY!!!
- 10.Store the playdough in ziplock bags once done creating your masterpiece.
BUBBLES
Ingredients:
- 4 c hot water (just use tap)
- 2 Tbsp glycerin (can substitute light corn syrup, but glycerin makes the biggest bubbles in my experience)
- 1 cup hand soap or dish soap
- 3 drops of your favorite essential oil
- large jar and spoon for mixing as well as bubble wands.
Instructions:
- Add the hot water to a large jar that you can mix the bubbles up in.
- Add the glycerin and the soap.
- Add a couple of drops of your essential oil, this is totally optional, but it certainly makes for a happy smell
- Use a spoon to gently stir.
- Grab your bubble wands and you’re ready to go.
FUNKY FLUBBER
Flubber is sort of a cross between silly putty and playdough. At my house, its proved hours of entertainment. Kids can stretch, mold, roll, pat, cut, twist, and even decorate it.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup white school glue
- 3/8 tsp Borax
- 3-5 drops essential oil of your choice
- Food coloring
- 2/3 & 3/4 cup warm water
Instructions:
- Combine glue, 3/4 cup warm water, essential oil, and food coloring in bowl.
- Combine Borax with 2/3 cup warm water in another bowl.
- Stir each bowl until dissolved.
- Slowly pour glue mixture into Borax mixture until a ball of flubber forms.
- Store in airtight container.
SMELLY FINGER PAINT:
Ingredients:
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups salt
- 1─3 cups water
- Natural food coloring
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
Instructions:
1. Combine flour and salt in a bowl.
2. Add 1 cup of water and stir to mix. Continue to slowly add water a little bit at a time until the paint reaches a liquid consistency with no lumps. You may not need to use the full 3 cups—just use enough to make the paint pourable.
3. Add your desired essential oils and mix in.
4. Separate paint into smaller containers to add food coloring.
Tip: Rinse your tools and bowls while the mixture is wet. The flour-saltwater combo is easier to clean up before it dries.
