Essential Oils DIY Christmas Gifts

Everyone loves homemade Christmas presents and who wouldn’t love all natural, made with love DIY essential oil products!! I know I do!

Here are a few of mine that I have on my list to make and put under the tree. Of course, the first two are all about peppermint! What says Christmas better than the smell of sweet Peppermint? But I added a few others of my favorites that use other essential oils.

Peppermint Foot Cream

  •  1 cup coconut oil (the kind that’s solid at room temperature)
  •  ½ cup aloe vera gel ( the real aloe, not the bright green stuff you buy in the store during the summer)
  •  20 drops lavender essential oil
  •  20 drops peppermint essential oil

Whip ingredients together for a couple of minutes.  You’ll know the peppermint foot cream is done when it is bright white, light, and fluffy.

Then scoop it into glass jars. This makes enough to fill 2 8oz jars.

I store my foot cream in the refrigerator.  It helps prolong the shelf life, and cold foot cream feels great when you put it on your feet!

Put a red ribbon around the jar and a homemade label on the lid and you have Spa gifts for all your friends!

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

  • 2 cups granulate sugar
  • ¼ cup melted coconut oil
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 2-3  drops or red food coloring

You will make 2 separate scrub mixes. One red, one white so you can layer them to look like a candy cane. How fun is that?

Add the granulated sugar, coconut oil and peppermint essential oil into a small bowl and mix to combine.

In another bowl add half of the sugar mixture and red food coloring and mix to combine.

In a glass jar with a secure lid alternate equal layers of the red and white sugar scrub.

Homemade Bath Salts

Homemade bath salts make such a elegant gift. They are probably one of the easiest homemade gifts you make with essential oils.

  • 1 cup Epson Salts
  • ¼ cup Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 10 drops of essential oil of your choice
  • Glass jars

To make your bath salts combine all the dry ingredients and then add your essential oils. Sit, stir, stir to combine. Pour into a glass jar, throw on a cute label and colored twine and you are good to go!

Holiday Joy Perfume

It is easy to make your own Holiday Joy essential oil perfume.  All it takes is two ingredients and a little time.

Combine the following essential oils in a 4-ounce glass spray bottle

  • 20 drops orange
  • 20 drops peppermint
  • 20 drops frankincense
  • 4 ounces of vodka

Put lid on the bottle and shake well. Place the bottle in cool dark place for several days (or up to several weeks) to let the scent develop. This allows the alcohol scent to fade and the scent of the oils to develop and intensify.

Bubble Bath

  • Liquid Glycerin– I like to use a clear odorless glycerin. It helps to keep your bubbles lasting longer.
  • Unscented Dish Soap – Often labeled free and clear. You can also use liquid Castile soap.
  • Essential Oil – Any essential oil that suits your senses works well in this recipe. Rose, eucalyptus, mint, lavender, lilac, orange, clove, grapefruit. The options are endless!
  • Salt – This ingredient is optional, and you can use any variety of salt you chose. Pink Himalayan salt is said to reduce fatigue and stress in studies.

Add liquid glycerin, dish soap and optional salt to bottle.

Add essential oil (I start with 10 drops) to preference.

Add lid and shake vigorously to combine.

Bubble Bath should be stored in a sealed container or jar and at room temperature. It can typically last several months.

I use pretty bottles and add a ribbon and label or Christmas Gift Tag. You can add a little swag of greenery as well.

With this homemade bubble bath, you don’t have to worry about any extra additives or chemicals. The best source for this question though is your own doctor, but in most cases it is safe to take a bath at least once a week. Be sure to drink plenty of water and moisture well after you get out.

ROSEMARY MINT SHAVE CREAM

  • 1/3 cup shea butter
  • 1/3 cup virgin coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup jojoba or sweet almond oil
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 3-5 drops peppermint essential oil

In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the shea butter and coconut oil, stirring until just melted. Remove from the heat and transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Add in the jojoba oil and the essential oils. Stir to mix.

Place the bowl in the refrigerator and chill until solid. Remove from the refrigerator and whip using a hand beater or a stand mixer until light and fluffy. Spoon into a jar. Lid and keep in a cool, dry place.

Do you have a favorite homemade gift idea made with essential oils that you would like to add to the mix? I would love to hear about them, leave it in a comments.

Blessings!
