Essential Oil Soap Recipes

Today, I want to talk about how to make soaps with these fun homemade soap recipes.  I love making my own soap and knowing exactly what I am exposing myself and my family to.

These soap recipes can be made in any shape.  I found silicone molds at the grocery store and snatched them up because I knew they would be the cutest shapes for soaps!

You can make your own soap base with lye but I prefer to use a pre-made soap base.  It is easy to use and inexpensive to purchase.  For this project, I decided to use a goats milk soap base because it is so luxurious and moisturizing.

Lavender Goat’s Milk Soap

Ingredients:

  •  1 lb Goat's Milk Soap Base
  •  24 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Instructions:

  1.  1.You will begin by placing your soap base in a microwave-safe dish.
  2.  2.Place your soap in the microwave and melt it on high for 30-second intervals, stirring regularly, until fully melted.
  3.  3.Once the soap is melted, add your food dye if desired and lavender essential oil.
  4.  4.Stir until well incorporated.
  5.  5.Pour soap into molds, and allow to set, and cool completely.

It's amazing how easy and fun it can be to make your own soaps!  You can customize the scent or color and make in any shape you like.

Here are a couple of my other favorite soap recipes that I always keep on hand.

  3.  3.Once the soap base is melted, add your essential oil
  4.  4.Stir until well incorporated.

Rosemary and Lemon Olive Oil Soap

Ingredients:

  • ¼ lb goat’s milk soap base (about 4 squares)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp shea butter
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 5 drops lemon essential oil

Instructions:

  1. In a small sauce pan melt shea butter and the soap base.
  2. Stirring frequently.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in olive oil and essential oils.
  4. Stir until will incorporated.
  5. Pour into molds allow, to set, and cool completely.

I have learned over time that silicon molds makes the process easier and smoother.  Always let the soap cool in a cool, dry spot. The longer it sits and cools the easier it will be to remove from the molds. I recommend letting all homemade soaps cure for at least 4 weeks. You can always spray your molds with a cooking spray for easy removal. And…..always use a microwaveable safe bowl to melt your soap base.

I hope you enjoy making and using these creative and safe soaps!!! Do you have any tips or ideas to add? Would love to know.

Blessings!

XOXO-Alisha
